Representation theory-

I have chosen images (personal and online) to represent myself to how I would like people to see me. For example- I have included a piece of my artwork (the kingfisher) to show people that I love to draw, specifically in coloured pencil. From this people could assume I am very creative along with the carbonara I made from scratch with further enhances my creativity. People could also assume I enjoy doing creative thing in my free time. This links to Stuart Halls representation theory because I have chosen to present myself with things I enjoy and because I am a female, stereotypes automatically assume that I must like cooking and doing art because it is seen as traditional for a female to like those things. I have also included some of the media I like- such as music artists I like, films, shows and actors. My family are also included as they are a main part of my life, which people may assume from this I enjoy spending time with my family quite often.

Reception theory-

Preferred meaning-From this I want people to assume I am creative and value family time. Also I want people to infer that I enjoy going to musicals and concerts as well as watching movies with my favourite actors- Adam Sandler and Jennifer Anniston.

Negotiated meaning-People may assume I have a pug but I don't they are just my favourite animal- people might find that harder to accept because pugs are specific dogs and uncommon for a favour animal.

Oppositional meaning-People with this interpretation may assume I am not creatively talented because cooking is a needed life skill, whereas I am as it can be difficult and dangerous at times.
